Laura's Little Luxuries is my friend's home business. I've been a bad friend and haven't actually ordered anything from her, yet, but that's going to change soon. I plan to place an order next time I'm over there. So I'll let you know what I think.

My mom's good news

My mom lives out in Colorado, which makes it hard to get together. It's a long enough trip that really needs to be broken into two days, which eats a lot of vacation time and it's just generally such a hassle for my husband that we would only go every 2-3 years at first. I missed her but I figured I was an adult and adults don't always live near their parents and you just deal.

The Holmen Kornfest is an annual festival in Holmen, Wisconsin. It features live music, carnival rides, a parade, a car show, and more. See below for the full schedule or check out one of the many posters hung all over town.

Friday, August 14th

  • 6pm - ??: Sandwich tent open
  • 6pm - Midnight: Beer Garden Open
  • 6pm - 1am: Carnival
  • 8pm - Midnight: Trouble Shooter
  • 9pm: Fireworks at Viking Field
  • No Chicken or corn on Friday night
  • Men's and women's softball tournament at Deerwood Park

Saturday, August 15th

  • ?? - ?? Carnival
  • 8am: Fun Run
  • 11am: Kornfest Parade
  • Noon: Charcoal Chicken and roasted corn available
  • 9am: Volleyball Tournament
  • 3pm - 6pm: Karaoke for kids
  • 8pm - Midnight: Double Take
  • Men's and women's softball tournament at Deerwood Park

Sunday, August 16th

  • 7am - 11 am: St Elizabeth Breakfast
  • 11am: Charcoal Chicken and roasted corn available
  • Noon: Phil Wall Classic Horshoe Tournament

  • 6:30 pm: Rhett Atkins and Andy Griggs (2 seperate shows, 90 minutes each)

4 year old kindergarten

What's the deal with 4 year old Kindergarten and a total lack of information? Maybe it's just Holmen, I dunno. My oldest is going next Fall and I signed up in April. We don't find out until August whether he gets to ride the bus, whether he's going am or pm, or even where the class will be located. When I filled out the form, there was no place to put whether I wanted AM or PM.

A little weeding

I took my older son outside this afternoon and the toddler stayed in with Daddy. Jamie was playing in his play area so I decided to do a bit of weeding. We have a deck that comes off the back of our split level house so it's quite high off the ground and the ground underneath it is covered in stones.
