The site went boom :(

This site has been barely holding together for some time. This was the site I learned Drupal on and I made a lot of poor choices early on before I knew what I was doing. I've learned tons since then but haven't had the time to really invest in getting this site redone properly. So I decided I was just going to work on it a bit at a time, when I could. Unfortunately, it didn't take long to discover there were some fundamental problems with the site that I didn't even realize were there because they only showed up when I tried to change things. The more I tried to fix them, the worse things got to the point where the site was just not usable. You can't fix a foundation with a new coat of paint, unfortunately.

So I've stripped the site down to the basic functionality. The forums and blogs still work, and that's mostly what people were using, anyway. It's going to stay this way until I have enough time to do a proper rebuild. Feel free to still post in the forums and blogs. No matter what, I'll keep the content on the site so that's not lost.

Sorry for the mess. Sad

Michelle

Just keep swimming, Michelle.

Love this basic design btw... I know it isn't something you came up with, but just throwing my two cents in, since I'm all about simplicity... It's very simple. lol

I do, too. I actually considered using this theme for the site for a while. But it's a very popular theme and we'd look just like a lot of other sites out there so I decided to go my own way. The blue/green/gold are supposed to be nature colors since this is such a beautiful area. So I'll get back to that, eventually, but not sure when. Seems like every time I decide I'm going to work on this site something gets in the way. I just hope it's not too much of a shock to people when I put the real theme back. LOL!

Thanks for sticking with me. Hopefully we can get some of the other folks back again when the site is ready.

No worries from the Kiwi down-under Michelle, I'll be sticking around

Not many of us die-hards around anymore lol

Site looks good in plain colours

Yeah, hopefully you're not too disappointed. Wink The other theme is a nice one but I missed the nice bright colors. Though I still need to get rid of that awful green on peoples' own comments. LOL

I also need to figure out what happened to half the editor buttons... Sigh... So much to do so little time.

Oh, not to worry... you'll get it all back and fixed soon enough... Smile You've done it before, you can do it again...

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Smile I've got the dev site all set up and will start working as I have time. Probably will be a while before any major changes since I still have that client site I need to give priority to, but we'll get there. I'm feeling better now that I know the site isn't fundamentally flawed like I thought it was.
