What's your sign of Spring?
If you live in Wisconsin, you know that Spring doesn't start just because the calendar says it does. When Spring really starts varies from year to year. This year seems to be off to a slower start than normal. There's some little things I always look for as a sign that it's really here. On the other side of the block is a lilac bush. When we go for walks in March and April, I always have to stop and check for buds. That bush seems to bud before anything else in the neighborhood. When the leaves start pushing out, I know Spring isn't far behind.
So what's your sign? What do you look for to know Spring is here?
Michelle

Hey Michelle, sorry I haven't been around much. It's been quite a week...
Let's see... I think my big thing when it comes to spring is the grass. When I start seeing the little green spikes coming up I have to smile to myself. And You look out your window and are blinded by GREEN. Yeah... That plus being outside when it starts raining and there's that smell when rain hits warm ground that I just love... That's Spring to me.
Ah, that's ok. Hope it was just busy and nothing bad...
Yes, green grass is a big one. I just love looking at all the yards with the bright green grass. So nice in the Spring when there's enough rain to sustain it. Here in Holmen, the ground is really sandy. By July, the yards will be mostly brown. We have a few folks that water almost non stop to keep the grass green but most people end up with huge brown patches even if they water a lot. My husband hates watering so our grass ends up nearly burnt to a crisp. I keep telling him one of these years we're going to lose the lawn but it survives every year and proves me wrong. Tough grass, I guess. LOL

Unfortunately it's been more emotionally draining than busy, although busier than most as well... lol...
But how about this weather today, hm? Brrrrr.
And I suppose as long as there's no gasoline involved in watering the grass, I see no reason why the grass wouldn't come back...
I'm sorry to hear that.
I hope things are getting better.
No gasoline.
But we've been told by more than one lawn care expert that grass can actually die to the point of not coming back if it gets dry enough. So far we've been lucky. Let's hope that holds out.
I don't know if I even want to talk about this weather. Snow? At the end of April? W.T.F.
