What helps you sleep?

Lots of people on the forums have mentioned trouble sleeping. I've found that I NEED to have a fan blowing no matter if I'm hot or cold, I just need the air movement it provides. It has gotten to the point that I have a small fan that I intend to take with me whenever I travel for just this reason.

The fan has an added benefit of adding white noise, but recently I started going to RainyMood.com on my palm computer and letting it run over night while the I'm sleeping and the sounds of a rain storm seem to help me sleep.

Noise or not doesn't matter too much to me. One thing I do need is a lot of pillows and blankets. The blankets aren't just for warmth but for the weight of them so I like the room to be cool enough to have a heavy blanket on.

I don't sleep well at all. What I'm hoping will help is a CPAP machine. I have an appointment on the 24th. Let's hope it works.

Re: What helps you sleep?

Weight of a blanket helps me as well and I prefer a cooler room (about 65 degrees is ideal) and a feather pillow or none at all.

If you haven't tried some sort of white noise I highly recommend trying it. I was skeptical at first but after about a month of rainymood.com I'm not sure I could sleep without it anymore.

Re: What helps you sleep?

I used to sleep with a box fan of some sort running all the time. That started when I was a teen and didn't have AC. I have been hooked ever since. I have it down to just a ceiling fan on medium which doesn't make much noise but does move some air. I used to be addicted to listening to the radio at night. I broke that habit and only have to do that once in a great while.

We do have a white noise machine that we take on trips (if we remember) and use that at the hotel.

At work in the old office area I was in, I never knew they were piping in white noise over our heads until one day they had a ceiling tile out and could see the speaker and there was no noise. The was one strange sounding day, nothing sounded the same. I spent most of the day out working on PCs to stay out of the office.

Re: What helps you sleep?

im addicted to white noise. and another would be the weight of blankets also. if i go anywhere i have a portable sound machine. i have my daughters also liking the sound machine...with them tho its to drown out the loud noises of feet, toys, yelling, talking, etc. the usual kid stuff Smile i have my mom almost talked into a sound machine as well, cuz the slightest noise always wakes her up and then she can not go back to sleep.

i use the sound machine during the day for my dck's that take naps to drown out the kid noises as well.

have a great day!

I'm surprised to see others say the weight of the blankets helps. I thought I was just weird that way. Smile

The ceiling fan does make some noise, enough that it's noticeable when it's not on. And it makes a lot of breeze so I sleep with the blanket over my head and a tunnel out to the fresh air. Big smile

A can of tasty beer just before I go to bed and I sleep like a rock.

That'd put me in the hospital since I'm allergic to hops, however I do occasionally have a Rum and coke.

Time to homebrew! Look for a German made Weiz Bier. No hops used.
