Population sign?
Holmen has unusual population signs. They aren't the normal green rectangles other communities have and they are being updated far more frequently than every ten years. I was wondering if there's a story behind them? Who does them? Why do we have them when other communities are stuck with the once a decade variety?
Thanks,
Michelle

can you give an example of the signage?
Insert a photo of the holmen sign, and of a sign from any other community.
Sure, I'll see if I can get over there and take a picture of it tomorrow.

I haven't had a chance to take the photo, yet. I tried today as we drove past it but the batteries were dead in my camera. Argh! Soon as I get one, I'll post it.

Ok, here's what the Holmen signs look like. All the other communities (that I know of) have the regular green ones that you see all over Wisconsin.
A couple weeks ago, we went on a tour with MOMS Club to the police station in Holmen and I asked about this. He said these signs are maintained by the village and are updated once a year or so. The reason is that Holmen is growing so rapidly that it would be very out of date if they waited 10 years. That also prompted me to ask how big we need to be before we're not considered a village anymore. It turns out that there is no set population for that; the village decides. There's some tax benefits to staying a village so we're staying put. That explains how Galesville can be a city with a lot less people. Oh the things to learn on a MOMS Club tour...
