So what you do think abouit the Paranormal... Ghost activity in particular. Did you realize we had a Paranormal Investigation Society right here in the Coulee Region?

Yeah, I ran into that a while ago when I was searching local sites. I've got a whole bunch bookmarked that I want to get added to our directory. Just no time, as usual.

I'm not quite sure what I think about it all. I do think there are things that we don't see but whether they are ghosts or energy echos or glimpses of parallel universes, I don't know.

I do think I've seen a ghost (or something). Years ago, when I was living in my dad's house. I saw a woman that I thought was my step-mom but then I realize she was in another part of the house. My family says I used to talk about "the lady" when I was a kid. The house is very old (by US standards. Wink ) and was the original homestead in that area before it was engulfed by the city. We think the woman may be the original owner because she's only ever been in the parts that are orginal to the house.

That was in Sheboygan... Anyone have any Coulee Region ghost stories? Is there any supposedly haunted places around here?

Very good topic. I'm not sure what I believe either. I saw something when I was very young but it might have been a dream. I don't talk about it often cuz people just think I'm nuts if I do. But I did tell a friend about it once & he got all excited and told me to research "shadow people" so I did. I have to admit that if I did see something it was definately a shadow person.

My friend Beth and her mom claim to have a ghost in their house. They've lived in that house for about 23 years or so. They live on Farnam Street. They said they have to keep their TV and couch where they are other wise the ghost comes out at night and breaks and moves things.

I was at a friends house on 17th and Market. My mom had just given my friends mom a heavy exotic tree as a gift. It was in the kitchen. We were in the living room. The pot traveled across the room and shattered.

I believe.

Spooky... The couch ghost doesn't like change, I guess. Wierd about the pot, too. I wonder what the ghost had against it?

When I was a teen, I was terrified of my baby sister's room at night. I always felt something was "wrong" with it. Everyone laughed at me and my sister never seemed to notice anything, though she was only 2.5 when I left so not a big conversationalist. LOL

I haven't noticed anything in this house and we've been here 9 years. The house is only about 12 years old, though, so unless it was built on something it shouldn't have been I guess we're ok.

I believe... no, I KNOW.
I was in my 20's when I had a "vision" if you would call it that... of a ghost that was my deceased grandmother... She was hovering about 2 feet above me telling me to pay attention. Then I saw my other grandma (still living at that time) and she told me goodbye. I called my Mom the next day and my grandma was doing good.... then 2 days later my phone rang and my Mom told me my grandma died. This wasn't the only experience I've had. I know some people think I'm nuts, but I don't care.. I talk about it.. I've seen too many things and heard too much not to know there is another side.

Wow, ok, I shouldn't read this thread right before I go to bed. *shivver*

I'm calling it a night. Hope I don't see any ghosts!

Oh how fun! Can I get one that does the dishes? I mean, if you're going to hang out in someone's house you could at least help out. Wink

Oooo sweet topic. I believe in ghosts for sure, but not necessarily in the way that most people think of them. I've encountered a ghost before, so really, I have to believe in them, lol. But yeah, my theory on ghosts is that... well... first off, I believe that every person has a demon inside of them. Call me crazy if you want, I don't care. Wink But I think that now and then, when a person leaves this life, the demon that inhabits them is left behind. Sometimes in the same form as the person, sometimes as energy, or a mist... *shrugs*
My personal experience with ghosties is that I used to live in a really old farm house (we're talking late 1800's) and one day I was sitting in the dining room, which was attached to the kitchen through a doorway, but the doorway was covered at the time with a blanket to keep the rest of the house cool. Nobody else was home at the time, and suddenly I heard some footsteps come running really fast down the stairs from the attic, they continued through the kitchen and went into the bathroom. Whatever it was stayed in there for a while and then ran really fast back up the stairs.
Another time I went up those same stairs and when I got to the top, I glimpsed a little boy sitting underneath a window. He disappeared when I looked away and then back.
And another time I was out in the yard and I saw that same little kid staring out the bathroom window at me for a few seconds....
So yeah. I've had a couple experiences. And I'm fascinated with ghosts. Smile

But in relation to the area, I've heard that the Bodega downtown here is haunted... Never been there (well, gosh, I'm only 20) but that's what I hear at least.

I've never been there either... and I'm in my 40's..lol. Interesting encounter. So do you believe that all ghosts are demons then, or just some?

I'm in my 40's as well and I've had a LOT of encounters with spirits in the Bodega. They've all been contained in bottles behind the bar!

lol... cute joke. But yeah, I think almost all entities like that are demons. There may be some exceptions to the rule, can't think of any right now... can't think of much of anything right now as a matter of fact. Wink hehe

That's a scary thought... Personally, I'd rather think most of them are harmless lost souls or bits of imprinted energy. I don't like the idea of demons all over the place. *shudder*

me neither...lol. I think there are bad spirits just as much as good spirits... not all of them I would consider ghosts though.

If you believe in ghosts, do you believe in reincarnation? I met a guest at the hotel that has a dalmation that's spots made out a number 3 on its side. Its pretty cool. The owner told me his dog was born right after Dale Earnhardt (the Nascar race car driver) died and believes he was reincarnated into his dog.

I believe in reincarnation, but not really in animal to human/human to animal... however, who am I to say it's not so.

Hello Everyone,
Just noticed some of the conversation out here and thought I might interject some of our thoughts and beliefs regarding ghosts, spirits and haunting phenomena. To begin, let's take a crash course in paranormal investigation 101. Ghosts. What people refer to as "ghosts" can actually have several meanings. For example, one particular kind of ghost is known as an intelligent or interactive. These are believed to be the essense or spirit form of someone who has passed that actually interact with the living. They are aware, they can express themselves through evp's (electronic voice phenomena), direct voice, olfactory sensations such as smells or visual sightings, etc. The repeating or residual ghost is one that is believed to be energy from some event or an emotion that actually imprints itself on a place and then, when conditions are favorable, replays itself like a film loop but does not take notice of witnesses or interact with them. An example of this particular type of ghost might be the Lincoln funeral train which was seen for many years travelling on the same route it took when President Lincoln's body was returned to Illinois.
There are those entities that may be encountered that are not now nor were they ever human. These entities can be anything from demonic to angelic beings or a host of other non-human entities. Although present, the chances of encountering one are very rare. It is much like people you encounter in your daily travels. 99% will be totally harmless and friendly while about 1% may cause you concern. Unless you project tons of negative energy or actually go looking for the bad things that go bump in the night, you will probably not run into them. The important distinction to remember is that the number of evil or malicious entities you might encounter is very low and the chances slim. You bring in what you put out so if you go out with positive goals in mind, that is the energy you project and the attractant to those entities who are on a similar, postiive vibrational level. Like ripples in a pond. What you send out is what you get back.
As I said, most ghosts that you will come across are harmless and really just probably are seeking interaction with you on some level. You need to remember that they are existing in another dimension that parallels our own and as such, they have limitations on how they can communicate with us. EVP's are a good way to actually hear communication but if you aren't engaging in actively recording, how are they supposed to get your attention unless they go bump in the night? Do not assume that since they do things that unnerve you it is automatically evil or malicious. It may well just be their way of trying to open the lanes of communication and tell you that they are there. The reason(s) that they may be where they are may elude us but if we take the time and actually listen to them, we might find out the why of them being where they are.
Hope that helps out a little bit. Take care everyone.

Thanks, Mark. That was a very informative post. I never thought about comparing meeting bad ghosts with meeting bad people. That makes sense, though, that not ever spirit out here is going to have bad intentions.

I totally agree with you Mark. And if all Ghosts were evil, all spirits living would have to be evil as well.

I just believe some people don't leave because they have unfinished business like they were murdered and want the murderer to pay for what they did. Some ghosts just make their presence known differently then others.
