If not, I know they do in Kindergarden. Thats one thing i found hard when i worked in childcare. I'd try to make projects worth keeping, not 2 second quick art that gets thrown.
It's hard to do stuff that turns out wonderful with really small children though unless you do it for them and that's not the point.
Yeah, true. I spent an hour today fingerpainting with my 3.5 year old and the only recognizable shape he managed was a handprint. He just wanted to mix all the colors together and rub them all over the paper. When do they get to the age where they actually start getting creative and attempting to make something other than a mess?
I think it depends on the kid because Jason was 3 when he started drawing people and really getting into art. Heathers 3 now and all she does is scribble. Nothing resembles anything yet.
