We just had the ice cream truck buzz through our neighborhood. Not sure why considering it's all of 60 degrees but whatever. That truck drives me batty. If I want my kids to have ice cream, I will buy some at the store for them. I don't like having that music getting them all hyped up, running from window to window, begging for money.
Now I probably sound like a grumpy old bag, and I admit I loved the ice cream truck as a kid. It was quite a treat to run down the street with a quarter and get a tastey treat. But times have changed and I just can't see letting my kid out there to buy ice cream from some guy driving around a beat up old truck. I don't let my kids take candy from random strangers so why should this be any different?
I wish he'd stop coming through our neighborhood. I hardly ever see him get any customers anyway. Probably a whole lot of parents thinking the same as me: If he can't even be bothered to make his van look nice, what's the quality of that food he's selling our children?
What about you? Do you let your kids buy from the ice cream truck?
