Welcome, Visitor! You are here: Woodmans weirdness

Woodmans is one of the last places I use checks these days, so it's not unusual for several entries in a row to be for there. So I'm writing in the latest there in the checkout line and I happened to look at the two entries above it. Now, keep in mind that I don't buy identical things every time I go. Similar, maybe, but far from identical. And even if I tried to buy the same stuff every time, what's the odds of my register looking like this:
Week 1: $82.43
Week 2: $82.39
Week 3: $82.39
Crazy, huh?

I shopped Woodmans once............ugh........never again. Way too big. People everywhere. Could not get down the isles. Check out lines were extrememly long
I'll stick with Pick N Save or Wal-Mart Super Center

It can get bad some days. We live in a smaller area, only about 100K people in the whole Coulee Region, I believe, so it's not as bad as it would be in a big city. Sunday mornings aren't bad and that's when we normally go. I do love the selection they have there. When we visit Sheboygan, we go to Pick 'n Save and it seems sooooo tiny even though it's a good sized store. We have a tiny Festival here in Holmen that I pick odds and ends up at sometimes and that's really hard. I can't imagine doing all my shopping there. I just like a lot of choices, I guess.
Our usual routine is to go to Woodmans for the stuff that "keeps" and Festival for the fresher stuff. Woodmans stuff sits longer, I think. I've gotten too much bad stuff when I buy perishables there. It's a pain going to two stores but it keeps the cost down to do the bulk at Woodmans.

I like going to Woodman's in the middle of the night. It's so nice and quiet... of course i haven't done this in a couple of years now with all of my kids now, but it used to be a lot of fun going shopping when everyone else was sleeping..lol. I like Woodman's for their selection. Walmart doens't have everything I like, but I go there when I just have to get stuff here and there, since it is so close to me.
I've found that weekday mornings are pretty quiet, too. We usually do our shopping on Sundays and go as a family but sometimes I need to pick something up during the week. If we get there before 9am or so, it's so much easier.
They do have an amazing selection. When we go back to Sheboygan, it's crazy how small their stores are!

I go to Walmart for canned and boxed stuff and Festival for produce and meat. Walmart is cheaper but their meat and produce isn't the best. We did our grocery shopping at Woodmans once and we spent more then we normally do since the selection was different and we had to try newstuff.
That's one reason I love Woodman's cause they're soooo big and have sooo much variety..... but that's also the reason I only go there every few months, cause when I go I buy enough for a few month.....lol.
We go every week. We don't have a lot of storage space for food. But some weeks we buy a lot and some just a little. If we ever get a new house, I want to have a nice walk in pantry and then I'll stock up on everything non perishable.

We turned our closet in our living room into a pantry and put a freezer in it. We were sick of having to shop every week. It gets expensive and time consuming.
I wish we could. I really don't like how our house is layed out at all. But it's not a real good candidate for remodelling. It's newish... Late 90s so we likely wouldn't get much ROI on ripping things apart.
Michelle
We have a deep-freeze, a fridge, a shelf and 3 storage containers down in the basement for food.
Oh, nice. The only storage we have is under the steps and I don't want to crawll under there with the spiders to get the food.
