Update: She actually has until the 18th, not the 15th, so there's still time to help!
Ok, this isn't in the Coulee Region but Kelly is a member of theBubbler, another Wisconsin site I'm on. I haven't had time to read the forum there in a while so it may be too late to do any good by posting this but I wanted to at least try. I'm not a fish person but the thought of 12 THOUSAND fish dying when the power gets shut off is just awful. She's been a member of that site for a while and this is legit. There's only 3 days left. If anyone could help, that would be awesome.
Her story is at: http://www.finnedfriends.com/viewnews.php?id=1

I've known Kelly for awhile now through another forum so I hope you will read what I would like to say about Kelly and her need right now.
First of all I would like to thank you for adding this comment to your site. I then would like to say that Kelly is a wonderful person that gives from the heart. She is suffering from many different health issues and could take the easy way and sit back and let others care for her but she is not like that. She would rather be the one that cares for everyone and everything. Kelly is a true giver.
She started this rescue hoping to make a difference. She has worked long and hard hours making this grow into a very worth while cause. Please click on the link that leads to the bubbler.com and really look at all the pictures that has been posted that shows the awesome amount of tanks, and fish she has.
Without any fault of her own she ran into a very bad string of luck brought on by hiring the wrong contractor that did a very bad job. The story gives all the details that is on the bubbler which also leads you to her website. I won't go into all the details here but would like to ask you to please, please take a few moments to click over and check it all out. If you ever wanted to help someone out please consider helping Kelly in her plight.
Of course in this time with everything going on in this world right now, there is many in need. So why bother with Kelly? I guess because sometimes we have to step back and help those that are just trying to help others even if the 'others' are little fish. Fish?? Yes, sometimes it's the little creatures that can make the difference. We have to remember that all creatures that God has made is important to him, even fish. And in this case there are 12,000 fish that need you to care. If not, they will die.
Please even if you can send only $5.00...please do so. Every little bit will help.
Thank you so much for reading this.
This is very sad.
Like I said, I'm not a fish person. I never really gave them a lot of thought. And I must admit if we were talking about 1 or 2 goldfish I wouldn't be so concerned. Though that's probably selfish, too, as even a couple fish have the right to live but the sheer scale here is what's getting to me. This is twelve thousand fish. That's huge! I just can't believe the electric company can't make an exception or something.
If Kelly's reading... Do you know anyone with a generator that could power you for a while to give you some breathing room?

Except by the Grace of God...what has happened to Kelly could happen to any of us. PLEASE, MAKE HER CAUSE YOUR CAUSE! The unscrupulous installer should be having his electricity turned off! But then the installer has made his money...probably lots of it...I wonder who else he has scammed! The reality for Kelly is that there are no options to help her save 12,000 little lives except through the kindness within your heart. PLEASE DONATE NOW so the nightmare isn't make a reality on the 15th. Donating whatever amount you can afford will make you feel good and it will help keep the sharks at bay. Lauri
The day I gave my interview to the paper, I actually pulled in my driveway from taking my kids to school and there on the radio was the news. Sad thing is, 60,000 people throughout the state are in the hands of miracles like I am. Facing disconnection. Worse than that, only 12% they said have made arrangements to keep their service and be put on payment plans. As I told the reporter after hearing this, why should someone help me when 60,000 people, in different boats are floating down the same river as me? I have no more right to be asking for help as these other people are facing the same thing. Plus, with the economy, people don't have the extra money just to fork out to others. What I did, posting my story, being interviewed was one of the hardest things in my life I had to do. I have no right to be asking for help when 60,000 people are going through this too. So please know, I am not looking for a handout for someone else to pay my bills for me. I am the type that if I can get through this, believe me.... I will before I die be paying this help forward many times over. I can handle sitting in the dark. I can handle everything that comes my way. Can my kids? Yes, they said they would deal with whatever comes our way. But I took on an oath to protect and save a type of animal no one feels is important. That is why I am here today.

Michelle:
I was wondering where my donation from Switzerland came from. How could someone so far away hear about me. You may be interested to know it came from your site. Here is the reply I got when I emailed a thank you. Thank you again for putting this on your site. As you said you may not receive many visitors but someone as far away as there found you. Here is her email:
Hi Kelly,
It's an honor to help you in this great cause.
So many lifes depend on you.
I was actually looking for a solution of a technical problem (internet stuff) when I came to MichelleC's website and saw her post about you.
Again, Michelle...thank you.
So really, if it wasn't for Michelle I'd probably never heard of the power cut and the awful consequences it might bring
I just hope your fishes will make it. I've just send another 50$ to kickstart your last 400$. Keep on going Kelly, you'll make it!
Best wishes and I hope everything will be well.

Well, this site doesn't get many visitors. But I also put the word out on a couple other websites I run. That one came from this post. SM gets about 200 visitors a day but it's an international group and they're all there for web programming information so I wasn't expecting anything. I guess I was wrong. Very glad to be wrong in this case.
I also put it on my demo site here which also gets about 200 visitors a day.
You're getting so very close. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
