Do you put your shopping carts away?

I always put my shopping cart away but some stores really go out of their way to make it hard. Like WalMart. What is with that cart rack placement? They've got them all stuffed in the first 1/3rd of the lot. If you park farther away, you have to walk practically back to the store to put the cart back. Maybe it's some evil plan to get people to take more steps? I don't know. But the result is carts all over the place. I guess their plan isn't working.

Still, though, some people are just lazy no matter how many cart racks you have out. I was at Woodmans yesterday and it was just a mess of carts in the lot, some mere feet away from the racks! Just crazy. Now I'm sure there are some people who have good reasons (health, a gaggle of kids to manage, etc) but the sheer number of carts says to me a lot of people are just being lazy. :P

So what about you, do you put your carts away? If not, why not?

Michelle

I always put my cart away. I don't just put it in the corral but make sure its tucked into any other carts in the corral too so its nice & neat for everyone else. Carts roaming the parking lot is a pet peeve of mine. lol

I usually put my cart back to the corral like Stacy, but if I'm far away I may put it on one of those medias... I do not like them in the parking lot, cause all it takes is a small burst of wind and you got dings in your doors.

Yeah, I've used the medians a time or two when putting it back in the rack would be a real hardship. Better than leaving it in the lot.

If I'm near the door i bring it in. If I'm not I always bring it to the corral. I'd be mad if someones cart dented my car. And its annoying when you have to move someones cart just to park in a spot.

I think Aldis has the right idea - make you put your coin in the slot to get the cart - makes you take it back! Most of the grocery stores in England use one pound coins to release a trolley - they even sell fancy key chains with trolley tokens - ain't that quaint!

Actually, I hated Aldi's system. I guess it works to keep the lot clean but that's just as bad as Wal-Mart's lack of cart racks. The last time I went there was when my older son was too young to walk. I had to carry him from the car to the cart rack, fiddle in my purse to find a quarter, get the thing unhooked, and finally put him in the cart. After I made my purchases, I took them back to the car then I had to walk all the way back to the store to return the cart and then carry my son back to the car again. That cart rack is one of the reasons I rarely go there. Plain

I'm used to Aldi's , cause that's most of Germany's system. I think it works and it makes people bring there cart back, but I can see your point of view. In Germany there are kids who put the carts away to get the money...
