Activities for the kids

i was wondering if anyone has any suggstions for things I can get my kids involved in that doesn't cost much but gets them more active, socializing and out of the house. My son wants karate but its so expensive. I thought Boy Scouts might be good for him but the uniform alone is too expensive. Do they have used uniforms?

My boys are still pretty young so I haven't run into this. A Google search turned up a page with a few ideas, though:

Are you looking for things the 7 year old can do by himself or things you can all do together?

The YMCA offers Karate now. If you get a scholarship they can have one class for the reduced price... might be worth looking into.

Oh really? I'll have to look into that. I wanted to get Jamie into Karate when he's a little older. I'll have to see when they start and how much they charge. Thanks for the tip. Smile

I think it's in the Onalaska Y too, which would be nice for you.

Stuff for him. My husband and I work opposite schedules so we can't do anything together. But we spend as much time with the kids as we can.

Hmm... That's a tough one for me. My oldest is 3 so he really doesn't have any activities that he goes and does without me. The YMCA has a lot of programs. I would suggest looking into those.

Jason thought Cub Scouts sounded fun so I emailed them. My friend Danielle is a Girl Scout leader and she said they have a financial aid form for the cost of uniform and fees.

@boggusmom - Oh, cool. I was in Girl Scouts when I was a child and it was a lot of fun. I hope your son enjoys it!
